Like other Linksys E-series routers you can setup EA4500 using Cisco connect software or you can do it manually using the setup page.
How to setup Linksys EA4500 using Cisco connect software?
Connect the main computer directly to your Internet modem. Make sure that Internet is working through the modem.
Connect the modem and computer to the EA4500 with the Ethernet cable.
Plug in the power to the router. Check the status of the lights. You will see 4 lights, power, Ethernet, wireless and Internet.
Run the Cisco connect software on your main computer.
If you are using DSL internet connection, it will ask you to enter the PPPoE user name and password. Enter the correct log in details.
At the end, you will see the screen on which you will find all the settings of your network. The software will do all the settings for you automatically. You don't need to do anything. It will create wireless network and security password. Also the gust network will be created automatically. You can change these settings later.

Like other Linksys router, his model also has web interface. The default IP address of EA4500 is 192.168.1.1.
Connect the main computer and modem to the router with the Ethernet cable.
Open the Internet browser and in the address bar type 192.168.1.1. Log in to the setup page of EA4500.
What is default password of Linksys EA4500 router?
Linksys EA4500 router default password is admin. If you have installed Cisco connect software then default password may not work. You will need to check the password on the Cisco connect software.
Change the Internet connection settings according to your Internet service provider.
Create a wireless network. Change the SSID and enter the security password. This router can broadcast 3 different networks, 2.4 GHz, 5GHz and guest network.
You can not change the name of guest access but you can change the guest access password.
Save the settings.
Power cycle the router and you are good to go.
Connect other wireless computers and devices to the network.

I had to install it manually. The cisco connect software did not work on my old computer. That is why I used the manual setup. The EA4500 manual sis not help me at all. I did it by searching on google.
ReplyDeleteThe setup is really very easy. I have 3 wireless computers including iPad. All the devices are connected immediately without any problem. Only problem is that iPad is working slow than other 2 laptops. Not sure if it is problem with Linksys EA4500 or the iPad.
ReplyDeleteTrying to connect my friend's iPad to the wifi. He wants to connect to the guest network. He can connect to the guest network but can not access Internet. It is not asking for the guest password. Not sure how to make it working. BTW he is connected to the main network as of now and it is working.

ReplyDeleteCisco guest network is not working. It works only when I install the Cisco connect software. I can see the guest network settings on the configuration page of the router also but it never works. Not sure what I am doing wrong. But I will stay with Cisco connect software. It is really nice software for me.
